One Lovely Blog Award

Hey guys! I got tagged by Kasia at Koju Bofu for the One Lovely Blog Award. Thanks so much Kasia! Here are my answers for the questionnaire. I've tagged some blogs for the award at the bottom of this post.

What is your favourite dessert?
After all the time I spent in Italy, it would be sacrilege if I didn't say gelato. I mean, look at this awesomeness in a cone:

(From Frigidarium...best gelato place in Rome!)

When you're upset, what do you do?
I end up talking to my family about it. I'm closer to the three of them than anyone else, so often we let each other vent and give out advice. I don't know what I'd do without them!

What was your favourite pet?
My yellow-lab Maggie of course! She's sitting next to me as I type this. Such a good friend.

What do you prefer to wear, black or white?
Depends on the season. At the moment I love pairing a white tee with colorful shorts. But in fall and winter I usually tend to wear darker colors, including lots of black.

What is your biggest fear?
Right now, I probably fear that I'm not going to accomplish everything I want to in life. I saw all sorts of adventurous people in their 20s while in Rome. I want to make sure that, like them, I keep living my dreams.

Though, in all actuality, this is a little more scary to me. You will NEVER see me ride this ride.

What is your attitude mostly?
I try to be as positive as possible. I think I have a sarcastic, ironic sort of humor when I'm around my family and close friends. However, when I'm in a job setting or around acquaintances I try to be as friendly as possible and smile at everyone.

What is perfection to you?
This right here.

JUST KIDDING! Honestly, I think perfection is different for everyone. I'm not as much as a perfectionist as people think I am. For me, perfection is getting a grade in school that I'm happy with and I feel like I deserve. As long as I feel like I've tried my best, I feel like I've achieved perfection.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Diet Coke and M&Ms. They're a match made in Heaven. The problem is that once you start munching on the M&Ms, you can't stop. I have to physically push the bag out of reach from me.

TAGS: I decided to tag only five people but, like always, it was so hard to choose!

--Asilia at Reasons to Procrastinate
--Cassandra at 25 in my 25th
--Chris at The Third Act
--Kelsey at The High School Prep
--Belle at The Life and Times of Belle

Congrats everyone!

More Awards!!!

Kelsey from The High School Prep has been kind enough to nominate my blog for not one, but two awards! Thanks Kelsey, I really appreciate it. Everyone, go check out her blog  for all things preppy!

Each Nominee Should:
1. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
2. Add an image of the Versatile Blogger Award
3. Thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link to their site
4. Share seven completely random facts about yourself
5. Include this set of rules
6. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination

My Random Facts:
1. I LOVE Essie nailpolish. I'm wearing Essie's "Orange, It's Obvious" right now.

2. Maybe I'm stuck in the 90s, but I believe that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan make the best romantic movie couple ever. Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail...all classics. Can they please star in another movie? Please?

3.My dad is a pilot! I don't know if I've mentioned that on this blog yet. He's a captain for American Airlines. Everyone always asks if I've ever flown on a plane that was piloted by him...nope, not yet!

4. I have to spend the $700 left on my campus meal card in the next two weeks, or else I lose the money. I honestly know don't know what to do when the average meal costs $7.00...

5. I've been published! I was published in the December 2010 magazine of Teen Ink with a piece called "My Summer with Denise". It talked about my experience volunteering one summer.

6. I have around 5000 songs on my iPod. Yep, you guessed it, I haven't listened to most of them.

7. My parents bought me an ant farm for my 8th birthday. I don't know what compelled them to buy it, honestly. We left on vacation and my parents promised me that the ants would survive over the weekend. They didn't. It was absolutely TRAUMATIZING seeing the container full of dead ants, especially since I thought it was all my fault.

Rules:
The Liebster Award is for up and coming bloggers (200 followers or less) that you think deserve recognition for their fabulous blogging abilities.

Here's how this award process works...

Each nominee should:
1.Choose five blogs to give the Liebster Award to.
2.Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
3.Post the award on your blog.
4.List the bloggers you gave the award to with links to their sites.
5.Leave a comment on their blogs to let them know they've received the award.
6.Share five random facts about yourself

More Random Facts (I'm running out of them! So here's just three more):

1. I've never been out of the country or overseas, which is why I'm so excited to go to Rome this summer! It will be my first big adventure, though I'm slightly terrified for it.

2. I made a rope of nylon in organic chemistry lab last week. Yeah, that's about exciting as that lab gets.

3. I don't own a Longchamp. It seems like everyone on our campus and every blogger owns one. I love the look of them, but I'm so reliant on my Northface backpack for school that I feel like I'd never use it.

Nominated Bloggers:
I'm going to cheat--I already received the Versatile Blogger award, so I'm just going to nominate ten bloggers for both of the awards instead of doing fifteen for the first one and five for the second.

I'm trying to nominate people who I haven't nominated for awards before. Also, per say the rules of the Liebster challenge, I only chose bloggers with less than 200 followers.

1. The Jones @ Jupe Fashion
2. Lauren @ One Sweet Fairytale
3. Chris @ The Third Act
4. Kasia @ Koju Bofu
6. Gabbi @ North Shore Prep
8. Lilly @ Lilly Limes
9. Ellyse @ Daily Hearts
10.Axl Rose @ Stealing Med School

Congrats everyone! I hope you enjoyed my random facts and I can't wait to read all of yours.

The Versatile Blogger Award

I got tagged for the Versatile Blogger Award by Kasia at Koju Bofu! Woot! This blog hasn't been tagged in anything yet, so this is kind of exciting. Thanks so much, Kasia, I really appreciate it.

  • Thank the blogger who awarded you and add a link to their blog in your post: Kasia at http://kojubofu.blogspot.com/. Check out her blog! She showcases her collection of postcards and stamps from other countries. They're really neat to look at.

  • Share the award with 15 other recently discovered blogs that you love and inform them! Ok, I don't know if I can come up with fifteen bloggers (I haven't been blogging that long!) but I'll try. This is in no specific order:
12. Capernaum Home
13. Walking on Bookshelves
14. Jane Austen Prepster
15. Stylish Obsessions

Congrats everybody! I really love all your blogs. I read every post! If you've been nominated, please pass the award on...I'd love to see how you all answer the questions!
  • 7 random things about myself. Now this is going to be a little tricky. Please don't laugh at me after reading these, I'm really not that crazy.
1. I have an Elmo collection. It started out as a joke. You know how they come out every year with new Elmo dolls? Every Christmas my dad has bought me and my sister the latest Elmo doll. These things are like little robots. The one from this year could sing, play the drums, the tambourine and the guitar. This is Elmo we're talking about! I think we have six or seven dolls now. My sister hides them in her closet so none of her friends see them, but me? I'm not ashamed! (Should I be?)

2. I love the countryside. I've wanted to live in a huge city since I visited New York as a ten-year-old. However, now that I live here? I'm not a huge fan. It's loud, it's dirty. Sure, there's something always going on, but I'm more of homebody anyway. When I get older I would love to live in the country somewhere, have a huge backyard, maybe own some horses. I know, it sounds crazy, but it just sounds like such a peaceful life to me right now.

3. I've changed a lot in past few years. Ever since graduating from high school and having to live on my own, I've matured so much. In middle school and high school, I never used to be a girly-girl. I was quiet, I relied on my parents for everything. Basically, I willed myself to change upon entering college. I really put myself out there. Inside I'm definitely still an introvert, but I now do something I never used to do: talk to other people! Sometimes I wonder if I've changed too much, but I try to stick by a rule that change is always a good thing.

4. I've named my electronic devices. My Macbook is my "baby", my Nook Color is my "precious", and my cell phone? Well, it kind of hates me and always stops working at the worse times, so I have rotating swear words for it.

5. I've seen both President Bush and President Obama in person. A few weeks after September 11th, President Bush gave a speech in Chicago to all pilots and their family members, assuring us the safety measures that were being taken to prevent more terrorism. My parents took my sister and I out of school just so we could attend. I remember being lifted on my dad's shoulders in order to see the President. No one believed me in school, but trust me, I really did see him!

I saw President Obama at a campaign fundraiser taking place at Navy Pier last April. Since my friends and I were students, we were lucky enough to get tickets for free, whereas everyone else paid hundreds of dollars for them. It took about two hours to get through security, but it was worth it: we were so close to President Obama that, after his speech was done, he came down to the crowd and shook one of my friend's hands.

6. I'm ambidextrous. I learned to write with my left hand, but I can write pretty well with my right (as in, you can make out my letters). When I'm eating, I always switch the hand my fork is in without even thinking about it. Other people have tom mention it to me, because I don't even realize I! It's not just eating, either--I switch hands doing everything, from throwing a baseball to writing on a chalk board (yeah, I've accidentally written on the chalkboard with my right hand. It took me a while to figure out why I was writing so slow).

7. I had braces twice. I've never heard of anybody having braces twice, so if you're out there, please say something. I first had braces in the 3rd grade because the dentist thought it would be better to put them on before my wisdom teeth grew in. Needless to say, something went astray, because I got the braces put back on and had to wear them all through middle school. You don't know how much I dreaded them going on again. It hurt enough the first time that I knew I didn't want to go through it again.

Thanks again for reading everyone, and please post the Versatile Blogger Award on your blogs as well! Here are the official rules from the Versatile Blogger Award blog:

"If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.
  •  Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself."
