My Heart Will Go On...

So...who's going to see Titanic 3D this weekend? ME!

My sister (from now on, KT) and I have always said that the day they rerelease Titanic in theaters, we'll be there opening day. And the day is almost here.

Honestly, I'm not going for the 3D. I'm going for the fact that I finally get to see this movie in theaters. Many people find it cheesy, but not me. The movie is a testament to my childhood and my teen years.

I've loved reading about the Titanic ever since I was little. I never found it that scary. I read this book...

and this one...

...when I was in elementary school. I remember the night my parents went to see the movie. They wouldn't let KT and I go because we were too little. After the movie, my mom would play "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion over and over again in the car. She said we had to wait to middle school to finally see the movie, so we waited, and waited...

It finally paid off. I was probably around 13 or 14 when I first saw it, and I loved it. I think it was one of the first movies I cried at, even though I knew what would happen to Leo at the end (sidebar: did you know Jack in the movie is from Wisconsin? Woot, Wisconsin represent!).

I thought Leo was the cutest thing and had a huge crush on him. I wrote fan fiction based off of the movie (yeah, I was one of those kids...a nerd). My sister drew pictures. We thought it was the greatest movie ever made.

I haven't seen it in a while, so I'm excited to see it this weekend. I want to know how it'll differ on the big screen versus watching it on DVD. Anybody else going to see it, or do you think it was so 14 or 15 years ago?

P.S. If you're interested in the Titanic, I recommend this book. KT got it for her birthday but I stole it. It is made up of true stories of honeymooning couples on the ill-fated ship, and is really interesting. A must-read!

  1. I can't watch a 3 hour movie on 3D it's always so tiring for my eyes. Still, titanic was a good movie, although I am not that much of a fan.

    1. I tried out one of those 3D TVs at Best Buy and I don't see how people can watch it for so long! I bet my eyes are going to be so sore after the movie, but it'll be worth it.

  2. I haven't seen it in the theaters in Poland yet, so I can't see it yet, but I know how you feel about this movie, because I have the same about the Rambo and Rocky series. Now _this_ is cheesy :D but it reminds me of my childhood, and the nineties and oh well I just love it:D

    1. I miss the nineties too, and my childhood. Just gotta keep telling myself that being an adult is way cooler than being a kid :)

  3. O my god, magic tree house, that series is so nostalgic. I still occasionally read the books. And whenever I hear the song, I tear up, but I never found the actual movie that sad.

    1. I LOVED the Magic Treehouse books! I remember reading so many of them.

It's the opposite of me with the song. I always found the song not that sad, but the movie really depressing!

  4. If it makes you feel any better, I just saw titanic for the first time EVER last year, so I didn't see it in theaters, either.

  6. Hey, girl!

Going to see the Titanic is not cheesy! I hope you enjoy every minute of it! I was one of those crazy teenagers that saw the movie like 8 times when it first came to theaters years ago. I am sort of "Titaniced" out! But it will always have a place in my heart. So don't let anyone ruin your experience!
